My Nonprofit Reviews
Review for Women's eNews, New York, NY, USA
Women's ENews is where I go when I want to read about women's issues around the world, reported with accuracy and humanity. Unlike the condescension in most of mainstream media when writing about women in the developing world, Women's ENews stories go beyond the surface. Partly this is because they draw writers from international backgrounds, but it is also because of excellent editing -- editors who gather news from multiple sources and angles and are ready to question their own assumptions.
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
As a writer, I enjoyed the process of working with them enormously. (I also value the fact that they make it a point to pay writers and interns -- even in a publishing culture where writers are the bottom of the barrel and interns are invisible slaves.)
What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
there commitment and dedication to improving the quality of reporting on women's issues.
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
terrific people with a sense of humor and a collaborative approach to work.
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
Revamp their website, go deeper and broader with the reporting they do, and become more visible in the media world.
