Review for US Naval Sea Cadet Corps, Arlington, VA, USA
My son joined when he was 12 and attained CPO before he graduated from high school. He continued as an adult leader after graduation. I started working with our local unit shortly after he joined. I have now been with them for 14 years. I have witnessed cadets grow and learn and mature. They have developed leadership skills, learned self-reliance and teamwork. I have watched their eyes light up when they get to try new things that they never knew existed. I've seen them burst with pride when in their uniforms during ceremonies and parades. I've witnessed cadets step up and help their younger or newer shipmates with the basics of their book work or marching, shining their shoes or remembering their general orders. The cadets have developed long-lasting friendships with other cadets across the nation and around the world through the numerous training opportunities available. I've had the pleasure of writing recommendation letters for cadets applying to the academies and colleges. I've had an even bigger pleasure of receiving thank you letters from former cadets.
I'm so glad we found this program.
