Review for The Mentoring Partnership of Southwestern Pennsylvania, Pittsburgh, PA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I love this organization! I used to a part one of the Mentoring Partnership's partnering organizations. When I began my position as Program Coordinator, their program staff sat down with me and helped me structure my program to best meet the needs of my students. Afterwards, they provided mentor training for my staff and continuing professional development for myself and colleagues. They conduct monthly meetings for community partners and that was where I made the majority of my professional contacts and other community partnerships. They do an incredible job at facilitating conversations between organizations as well as providing services to groups that service students.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

my students that benefited from the services they provided to my program

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

The staff is so helpful and accomodating- they would do anything to assist a partnering organization

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

great connectors

Review for Tickets for Kids Charities, Pittsburgh, PA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I used to be the Program Coordinator for a Partnering Agency for Tickets for Kids Foundation. The level of opportunities they provide for students is really incredible. My students and their families have recieved tickets to go Bowling, see the Black Nativity, go to the Symphony, go to a Pirate Game, visit the Zoo and see the Diary of Anne Frank (after they provided us with the books for the students to read first). They're really an asset to the community.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

the happiness of my students and their families after attending an event they may not have had the chance to do otherwise

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

they are super thorough and the organization is extremely well run

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Provide even more tickets and services for partnering agencies- I encourage anyone to donate to this organization

Review for 3 Rivers Connect, Pittsburgh, PA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I was a part of a group that met several times over the course of last year to offer feedback concerning a database that 3rc was putting together. The database includes information about youth programs in Pittsburgh and the surrounding area. They really are doing an incredible job trying to create a central database for information for funders and program providers. The site is www.swpaafterschool.org. It really is an incredible database that everyone should check out.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

putting together information from human services.net and information already compiled by A+ Schools- They are IT geniuses!

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Very helpful, not overwhelmingly technical- I don't speak "computer" and I still found them to be incredible people to work with

Ways to make it better...

More organizations contributed their information to their database

Review for Coro Center for Civic Leadership, Pittsburgh, PA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

Coro is a fantastic organization that allows for incredible levels of access to leadership in Pittsburgh by its participants. The Fellows Program in Public Affairs is a very rigorous 9-month fellowship that challenges, strengthens and encourages its participants to take on the task of becoming a leader in the industry of their choice. The team that I'm working with are 14 of the most insightful and intelligent people I will ever have the privilege of working with at once. The extra value to Coro that isn't highlighted enough in its promotional materials is the ability to work closely with such talented people and learn from them while participating in program activities. It's just as much an introspective learning experience as it is a professional and industrial.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Myself. I've only been in the program for a few months and I've already noticed how much I've learned and how I see the world a lot differently.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Strive for a more socioeconomically and racially diverse mixture of participants

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the experiential learning experience facilitated by Coro staff

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Encouraging, helpful and make it their mission to challenge you in a good way

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

broaden its programs to serve more people and produce a national leadership of socially responsible civic leaders

Ways to make it better...

More time were spent in the beginning doing team-building types of activities before diving into work

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Retaining the talented individuals that are trained by Coro to stay and make Pittsburgh better
