Review for Atlanta GLOW, Atlanta, GA, USA
When I was still living in Atlanta, I only had the chance to volunteer once with Atlanta GLOW, and I had such a wonderful experience. As a career counselor and graduate student at the University of Georgia at the time, I signed up to be a mock interviewer and panelist at the Career Day Extravaganza. I forget how I first learned about the organization, but I had it on my calendar for months and was so excited that I even recruited my friend who was also a career counselor and graduate student to be a volunteer! I'm passionate about empowering women to make informed decisions about their futures and making realistic plans to achieve their goals. Participating in this event was not only fun but also a meaningful experience for me, because I don't think I would have otherwise had the opportunity to interact with the lovely young women that Ashlie works with. I have so much respect for Ashlie James and the mission of this organization, I wish I had lived in Atlanta longer to serve as a mentor as well. Ashlie was very professional in her communications with the volunteers leading up to the event, including e-mail and Zoom meetings, and it helped me feel more connected to the mission.
