My Nonprofit Reviews
ForTheOceans
Review for Marine Life Studies, Moss Landing, CA, USA
I participated as a volunteer in their Take It To The Streets program. I was very impressed at how well it was organized. The leader provided instructions and appropriate equipment to pick up cigarette butts near a wharf in Monterey. Everything was sorted, and catalogued and counted as part of a research study.
I was made to feel part of a team, and everyone was friendly, welcoming and appreciative. I was horrified at the thousands of cigarette butts that we picked up in a relatively short period of time. All these toxic butts would have washed into the ocean.
I live some distance away, and wish that I could participate more often. As with most non-profits, I assume that they could use more volunteers, but they do amazing work with the amount of people they have.
Review for Buffalo Field Campaign, West Yellowstone, MT, USA
This incredible non-profit does so much with so little. Dedicated, enduring, passionate and suffering along with the buffalo, they are so impressive and so admirable and so determined. Our National Heritage buffalo/bison are the target of hunters and hunter-controlled government agencies, with even the Park Service unwilling to stand up for the defenseless buffalo who are only trying to live and survive in areas that have been their homeland since the beginning. BFC is their voice and their advocate when others are to busy to care. This is, indeed, a non-profit that walks the walk.
