Review for Southern California Golden Retriever Rescue, Los Angeles, CA, USA
We should have been perfect candidates for the labrador retriever this organization had for adoption. Our last 3 dogs were all labs who lived to be 10 to 12 years old. And, one had cancer, so we paid for his chemotherapy and took care of him to assure good quality of life for a few more years. Another was diabetic and blind, but we lovingly administered the insulin shots and prescription eyedrops, etc. We have a very nice house with a brand new 6 foot fence. We have lots of neighbors with kids and dogs to be playmates. And, my partner's work office was named one of the dog-friendliest offices in all of Los Angeles -- as many employees bring their dogs to work every day to play and socialize. Our last lab passed on 8 months ago and we desperately want to adopt a lab.
Our home interview went great and the person from the rescue said our house and yard were great. Despite all this, the rescue chose to give the lab we wanted to adopt to a family that ALREADY had 2 other labrador retrievers -- where the dog we wanted will have to compete for attention, love and resources. I suspect they may have discriminated against us because we are gay.
I would NOT recommend this rescue group!!
