That time of year again for reviews of my favorite place to be - Rikki's Refuge - (I know, the corporate name is Life Unlimited of Virginia). I've been going to Rikki's Refuge as often as I can for almost 25 years now. I love mowing the fields, taking care of the dogs, hauling hay to the cows with the great big huge tractor. And I even wash dishes, laundry, take out the trash and what ever else they need help with. Taking care of way over 1000 animals takes a lot of time and effort. If you want to have the best experience of your life, come on a tour, and then VOLUNTEER --- make a difference in the world !! Hope to see you there.

Absolutely THE place to visit and volunteer. I do both every chance I get. My friends always love it when they go with me. I'll say I'm going and who wants to come along. They don't get why I'm so excited to make the trip. But after they visit they understand and are hooked for life. Bigger and better every year.

I love working at Rikki's Refuge. It's fun to be with the animals. I get to use my building skills to help them. Fences, houses and I hope to build a nice big pond for the birds one day. The only bad thing is there are never as many volunteers or as much money as they need to make all their dreams come true. Come on out and help us all.

Awesome. Just awesome. Visit a couple times a year. Take out of town guests. Animals are fun and friendly and so very well cared for. Love the philosophy to allow the elderly and the handicapped a happy life. Some one on a tour once asked how Rikki's found all these handicapped animals, saying they'd never before seen an animal with a birth defect. Well you know why not? Cus most people just kill them. But Rikki's gives them a home. And thru these happy, though handicapped, animals, they teach visitors, especially kids, how to be kind and compassionate to all. I never leave Rikki's not feeling a lot happier then when I got there. I'll see you for the next holiday tour!
