Review for EcoLogic Development Fund, Cambridge, MA, USA
I've been connected to EcoLogic in one way or another almost since the beginning (we are celebrating our 30th anniversary this year). As someone with a deep connection to Guatemala and Central America over decades, I believe EcoLogic does work that truly makes a difference in the lives of small communities of rural famers and indigenous people, while protecting valuable natural resources. We work from the ground up, listening to and learning from and responding to the people closest to the "problems" we are trying to address. Our partnership model means we work to support, strengthen and enhance the local organizations in their leadership in providing solutions. We work long-term with partners because we appreciate that change can be slow and challenging, but also provides opportunities. We work very hard to be efficient and accountable with the funds that are entrusted to us by our donors. We are grateful for any and all financial contributions, as we work hard to help sustain the local people as they strive to protect the often threatened ecosystems in which they live.
Review for EcoLogic Development Fund, Cambridge, MA, USA
As someone who has lived and traveled in Central America, especially Guatemala, over the past 30 years, I think EcoLogic does terrific work. Their philosophy of finding local partners to collaborate with makes all the difference. Working where there is an intersection of valuable biologically diverse environments AND a local, often indigenous population, EcoLogic concerns itself with not only conserving precious natural resources, but making local people's lives better and more sustainable in the process.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
being part of a larger movement that values both local people and precious natural environments and is working hard to sustain both of them.
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
do wonders!
