Review for Environmental Fund for Arizona, Phoenix, AZ, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I have worked with Laine Seaton on other environmental nonprofits and have learned that EFAZ is very concerned about the environment. They take great care in providing the best service for their clients and are always looking for more ways to help.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Review for North Country Conservancy Inc, Phoenix, AZ, USA

Rating: 5 stars

The North Phoenix area is blessed to have this very committed land trust right in our community, which looks after all of us in land and community planning issues. I am on the City of Phoenix Housing and Neighborhood Commission and we are always looking for ways to improve the Phoenix metropolitan area by providing open space for our residents. The North Country Conservancy is working hard to keep residential and commercial sprawl from engulfing our majestic Daisy Mountain landscape. When a rush to development occurred by some state officials a couple of years ago, the land trust organized more than a thousand residents to come in person to speak their minds and express the Community will, to our officials. Together we headed off a resort and new development being built on the heart of our beloved Daisy Mountain. It was a powerful demonstration to our young people of the strength of informed and peaceful response to protect the things we love the most about our area. We are grateful to the members of the land trust who identified technical issues, created materials on powerpoint and handouts, to help each neighbor participate in an informed way. The NCC is a tireless organization run by incredibly dedicated neighbors, government advisors, and volunteer workers from other communities. With minimal resources, a lot of good projects have been done, and the educational benefit to the children of the area is a delight to behold. I would wish that everyone could go on one of the nature walks on Daisy Mountain, where every small flower is identified and treasured as much as the splendid views. The NCC has been an example to us all to stay involved.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

meeting a group of concerned volunteer citizens that bring hart and commitment every day to the task of preserving the precious open space on and around Daisy Mountain so all Phoenix residents can enjoy what it has to offer.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Purchase the Daisy Mountain land, start a conservation scholarship fund and help the surrounding communities with other conservation projects.

Ways to make it better...

I was not looking for employment so I could dedicate more time helping move our mission forward.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Increasingly more difficult to raise funds from donors due to the poor economy and the uncertain direction of our local government agencies due to major cutbacks in staff and programs.

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?

About every week
