Review for Helping Hearts Equine Rescue, Perrineville, NJ, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I’ve known about Helping Hearts Equine Rescue since I first adopted two equines from there 8 years ago. I love the care and love that my adopted pony and horse got there. My two future family members were saved by Helping Hearts even though they were not highly adoptable; my beloved pony needed daily medicine for his Cushing’s disease and also had compromised vision, and the horse was gorgeous but un-rideable because of arthritis in his knees. They both also were on the older side. I remain so grateful to Helping Hearts for taking on these needy guys and seeing the value in their lives so that I could find them and add them to my family. Those wonderful equines have since passed on, but I have been helped by Lisa Post to find other perfect-for-me horses who enrich my life every day. Helping Hearts Equine Rescue is wonderful.

Helping Hearts is a wonderful rescue! I adopted two horses from this rescue several years ago, and since then Lisa Post has helped me with information and support every time I have asked. I cherish my horses, who are stictly companions, and this past year when I wanted to start learning to ride, Lisa again helped me connect with a ridable horse who needed a home and who is a perfect match. I am very grateful for the wonderful work that this rescue does. The farm is beautiful and all of the animals in Helping Hearts' care are truely loved and very well cared for. This rescue is a life saver!

Helping Hearts is a wonderful rescue! Last year we lost our beloved mare and were heart broken without her. We searched on Petfinder and found several horses of interest at Helping Hearts. The animals I inquired about were not suitable for our situation, but Helping Hearts worked with us to find a perfect match! My husband and I visited the rescue and found it to be a very wonderful place, and everyone there is very knowledgable about the animals' needs and personalities. We so love the rescue horses we adopted from there! Lisa Post does an amazing job of adopting out horses and organizing to save equines from being shipped to slaughter. I love Helping Hearts!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

my own backyard with my wonderful adopted horse and pony. My horse has a bum leg, but enjoys his life so much and is such a beautiful part of my life. The pony is also someone saved from the kill pen and he is a wonderful, lovable and ornery character.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

move it closer to my own home so that I could volunteer there on a regular basis.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

seeing the happy farm and the love the animals all feel there.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

very loving and caring. And very knowledgable about the animals in their care.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

SAVE A LOT OF HORSES! Lisa Post already does her very best--which is substantial and very impressive--but she works with limited resources. Her attitude has shown me that all life is valuable; she would spread that word further if she had more money.

Ways to make it better...

more people in the world were like the caring, loving people at Helping Hearts.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

financial. It is so costly to care for equines and to provide them vet care. Helping Hearts takes in many "broken" and abused horses--the throwaways--and it is very challenging to heal them and rehome them.

One thing I'd also say is that...

there is such a loving feeling at Helping Hearts Equine Rescue. All the animals there are valued as individuals and cared for and loved as such. More of the world should be like that wonderful farm.

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?

About every month
