Review for Elmhurst Swim Team, Elmhurst, IL, USA

Rating: 4 stars

I served as president of Elmhurst Swim Team in 2015-16. The two reviews from 2013 were a focus of mine and of the Board's throughout the year. We reviewed all finances back to 2010, we analyzed the 2016 budget from May until October 2015. We met with coaches (not just Dave Davis, who is a testament to what coaching should be). The reviews are simply incorrect. While my term has run, any person with a concern over two 2013 reviews that seem quite spiteful, can contact me directly. EST is a competitive swim team that drives kids to perform, engage in community as part of a team and strengthen friendships. I have reviewed the fees, facilities and practice/meet regimen of most Illinois swim teams within two hours of Chicago and I have discussed team operations with countless coaches and team directors, and EST remains a very well-run organization with rates that correspond not only to opportunity and team concept, but also to the pricing of many other teams (EST is one of the less expensive options and this is a direct result of hard-working parents and coaches who refuse to render swimming financially unavailable to Elmhurst area kids). I have never had a problem supporting this group with well over a thousand volunteer hours and plenty of donations.

Review for Citizen Advocacy Center, Elmhurst, IL, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I have known CAC for 15 years, including through a more recent transition in executive directors. Has always been a great organization that serves Illinois and the Chicago metro area very well. While many view the group as one that can be problematic for the "progress of government or commerce," the group has been a great asset to those who value open government, fairness in participation and access to the processes in play. I've spent 99% of my career involved in real estate development and often advised governmental entities and salute Miriam (and Terry before her) for their efforts in helping people understand and gain an important sense of meaningful involvement.

Review for Silk Road Rising, Chicago, IL, USA

Rating: 5 stars

After having seen the investigative, creative, educational and dramatic role Silk Road Rising played in relation to Mosque Alert I remained amazed with the group's work ethic, its ability to communicate and raise consciousness as well as its dedication not only to the drama but also to the dialogue. Chicago could not be more fortunate to have a theater group like this in times like today. Once Elmhurst finally gets its dedicated performing arts location underway, the group will be on the top of the list of people I recommend. Well-run charity that makes the donation decision easy.
