Review for The Raccoon Creek Partnership, Athens, OH, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I thoroughly enjoyed volunteering at Raccoon Creek. The drive out there was beautiful, the land itself and water are absolutely stunning, and I loved interacting with both the kids and the other volunteers. I'm an environmental studies student, and this volunteer opportunity gave me invaluable experience. The nature programs are very well developed, the kids are actually out in nature and not crammed in some classroom. Plenty of activities involving wildlife and other things kids find fascinating is a thoroughly enjoyable experience for all involved! I definitely hope to do more important work with Raccoon Creek in the near future.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

volunteering there, and helping to play a valuable part in nature education.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

not suggest anything, I'm very happy with how it's run.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the energy and enthusiasm they bring to every single aspect of their work.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

very friendly, and welcome to others coming to help them and participate.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

perhaps do a lot more educational programs with the local schools, and do some more research on the AMD problem.

Ways to make it better...

probably if the day camp events were moved an hour later, 10 a.m. is pretty early for everyone, especially young children, on a Saturday.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

mainly, the acid mine drainage problem, which unfortunately can't realistically be permanently fixed for a very long time.

One thing I'd also say is that...

I hope that Raccoon Creek continues to receive its grant money, and function for many more decades.

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?

About every six months
