Review for Soldiers' Angels, San Antonio, TX, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I have volunteered with this nonprofit for almost 4 years and am so proud of what we do. While most servicemen and servicewomen don't have the time, materials, or expertise to write letters back to us volunteers, every once in a while someone will. I have received so many letters from grateful soldiers and sailors, emails with pictures, and even a flag that flew over Kandahar airfield that I feel truly blessed. I serve on three teams and wish I had time to serve on more! Thank you, Soldiers' Angels, for allowing me to be a part of your awesome organization!

I actually spent three days on the Lex. I signed up for two group tours, took the self-guided tour, and also went exploring on my own. On one of the tours I climbed stairs from the lowest deck to the tower. Along the way our guide introduced us to the working of the ship. I can now imagine what it must have been like to live on this "island'. All the volunteers were friendly and knowledgeable. There was also a cafe on board which provided decent food at reasonable prices. If you have any interest in the Navy, ships at sea, or Naval aircraft, this is a must see. .

I joined Soldiers' Angels just over two years ago. I belong to 4 of the teams and wish I had time and money to join more teams. This is an awesome organization! I receive many letters and emails from troops around the world, in all areas of our military, thanking us for the letters, cards, packages, and support, not only to the troops directly, but to their families as well. And as important as this service is to our military, the feeling of helping support our troops is both humbling and satisfying to me personally. I urge anyone who wants to appreciate the job these folks do, so far away from home, to join this awesome organization.

Review for Austin Pets Alive, Austin, TX, USA

When the current APA! Executive Director took over this organization, she implemented so many important and beneficial programs to move the "No Kill" initiative forward! My husband and I had been members since the organization's inception. This group continues to provide a unique service to the animal population and the adopters. I am proud to have joined the Cat Behavior team - we follow up when adopters have behavioral issues with cats and kittens. So many clients have been helped, thus keeping adopted pets in their forever homes.

I first visited the Lex in November of 2015. Every single volunteer I came in contact with, in person or via phone or email has been absolutely outstanding. This organization has a dedicated and customer-friendly attitude. Even though I live 4 hours away, I joined the Museum Association and am proud to be part of an extraordinary organization.

I recently joined Soldiers' Angels and am on both the Bakers Team and the Letter-Writing Team. I have been impressed with the responsiveness of team leaders when I've had a question. They are truly on top of this group! I mentioned joining the group to a friend who had lost a son in Afghanistan. She immediately knew the organization and was excited that I had joined. This is a wonderful service to our military. Bravo Zulu everyone!
