Review for TOURISM CARES FOR TOMORROW INC, Canton, MA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

Tourism Cares is such a unique organization, and its vision for the preservation of our landmarks, the fostering of our young industry professionals, and uniting the industry with common goals fills a much-needed gap in a highly unrecognized field. I was so impressed with the planning, care and consideration given toward the Tourism Caring for America event I attended in Biloxi, Mississippi after Hurricane Katrina. Not only did Tourism Cares create a united force which could effect real change in the ravaged area, but we were also given the opportunity to meet the tourism industry professionals there who were facing a long recovery. Hearing their stories and showing how much we cared through our actions was one of the most rewarding experiences I have had in my career. In addition to my volunteer experience with Tourism Cares, I was also fortunate to receive their Liberty Travel Scholarship during my graduate studies at NYU in 2006. The scholarship was immensely helpful and I am continuously grateful for the recognition.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

the form of an academic scholarship which was greatly appreciated.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

meeting tourism industry professionals from myriad destinations and businesses with whom to network, strategize and grow our industry.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

enthusiastic, knowledgeable, welcoming and highly aware of their responsibility to give back.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

save an awful lot of historical and cultural landmarks and provide many, many scholarships to deserving students!

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?

About once a year

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?

2009

Role:  Volunteer & As a volunteer, I staffed the Tourism Cares booth at several trade shows and attended the Tourism Caring for America clean-up in Biloxi, Mississippi. I was also a Tourism Cares scholarship recipient during my graduate studies at NYU.
