Review for Cat Network, Inc., Miami, FL, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I've been fortunate to know the good works of the Cat Network for almost a decade. The cats that live better lives through adoption, TNR, humane education and strong advocacy number in the tens of thousands. They advocate and provide services for spay / neuter for cats and greatly reduce the number of homeless kittens born onto city streets. Through TNR, they provide the largest rabies vaccination program in FL.
I feel very fortunate to support this organization that performs life saving work in the community and nationally.

Review for Pennies-4-Paws Inc, Neosho, WI, USA

Rating: 3 stars

I would like to update my 2012 review. I no longer strongly support this organization or endorse their protocols or positions. While I do feel they help animals of their choosing, I no longer donate or embrace this nonprofit. I always however, wish the best for the animals.

Review for Pennies-4-Paws Inc, Neosho, WI, USA

Rating: 5 stars

This is an excellent charity who works very hard to help animal non profit organizations all over the US. At the end of each fundraiser, the amount raised is posted on the website and the funds are transferred usually by the next day to the designated charity. IRS compliance and verification of funds received and funds transferred are documentable at the end of each year as with any non profit organization. In addition, each non profit who receives the funding raised for them by P4P has the option of requesting a report of donors. As a donor for the barn project for TNR on the owner's property, I was kept apprised of all aspects of the project progress and happily felt that if even a few animals were trapped, neutered and returned (TNR) that it would be funds well spent in rural WI where few options are available- but that has not been the case- scores of cats have been TNR'd, social cats adopted and many, many dogs have been helped when the TNR calendar is not full. As a donor to this specific project- I know it has been money well spent. Sadly, in the light of social media and instant communication, it only takes a few people to wreck havoc on an organization that in my view has done amazing work in the short year they have been in existance. Few organizations can say they have raised six figures- not for themselves- but for other groups within a short year.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

seeing the designated charities benefit from the funds raised by Pennies-4-Paws. Small rescues are able to seek the medical care for animals they need, animals are sterilzed, funds for necessary equipment to fulfill a mission are raised and the bottom line is that animals lives are improved, saved and intervened on because funds raised by P4P were raised to help the designated charity.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Increase awareness and support for this organization

What specific problem, purpose, priority, or project prompted your gift?

A dog with medical problems needed veterinary care and P4P was raising funds for the organization. In the next few weeks, the organization that was helped shared pictures via Facebook of the dog after it had received care. The dog went on to find a permanent home via adoption.

Why did you make your donation at this time?

What would you tell others about this organization?

Do your homework. Reviews are helpful, but that is all they are- one person's opinion. Read, research and validate. This is a good group doing good work and I highly recommend them.

Role:  Donor & I donated funds via this organization that were appropriately transferred to the designated charity.

Review for Hill Country Cat Control, Horseshoe Bay, TX, USA

Rating: 5 stars

Hill Country Cat Control works diligently to sterilize and vaccinate (TNR) the cats in their community, while at the same time provide medical care to the ill and injured cats they encounter. They are the experts in this area- the go to people- and help many individuals and sister organizations by networking and working cohesively together to achieve common goals- finding the best option for a cat, whatever that might be ie release, adoption or foster care. These are kind and compassionate advocates working to make a difference for the cats.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Kind, caring and compassionate.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Land and shelter!

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?

About every six months

Review for Blue Paws Rescue, Lexington, TX, USA

Rating: 5 stars

Blue Paws is the Little Engine that Could. Based in an outlying area, away from many of the TNR resources, this group travels many miles each day to bring in the cats from this rural area. I shudder to think what the options would be- None- for the community cats here without Blue Paws. They work tirelessly to sterilize, vaccinate and provide medical care to the cats they come across. While they are a relatively new organization, I have seen the results of their work and support their efforts without reserve.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Kind and compassionate. They very much care about the fate of community cats

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Land and shelter. Provide respite for many rural cats and help them find homes

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?

About every six months

Review for Lago Vista Pet Adoption And Welfare Service Inc, Lago Vista, TX, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I have been a long time supporter and admirer of this organization. Under the leadership of Andrea and Janet, many cats and dogs that otherwise would have been destroyed, have found loving homes. Not only does Janet guide her own organization, she reaches out within the community to other orgs and individuals and works to network for them in order to save even more animals by finding homes/resources for them also. When I think of a truly compassionate feline advocate, I always think of Janet Cain.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

exemplary. Debbie is such a kind and nurturing foster mom to bottle babies and kittens/cats of all sizes/ages. Very compassionate volunteers- they definately carry a big load on their shoulders

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

impact this area of Texas that is uneducated about TNR and the responsiblities of pet guardianship in general. Purchase land for a shelter.

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?

About every month

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?

Role:  Client Served & I received networking assistance from Janet in placing several difficult cats. I also received grant writing tips and benefitted from her experience and leadership.

Review for Shadow Cats Rescue, Round Rock, TX, USA

Rating: 5 stars

As founder of this organization I am extremely proud to be part of such a dynamic and growing organization. Shadow Cats greatly impacts the environment by reducing the overpopulation of free roaming cats in the community through Trap,Netuer and Return. We place socialized cats and kittens into homes and remove them from the outdoor street life. Injured and ill cats recieve care and medical attention. We impact our communities by working with city leaders to improve local ordinances that will allow us to fulfill our mission. We assist the public in reducing the stray cat population through education and hands on intervention. Recently- Jan 2010- we assisted a senior citizen who was inundated by the large number of breeding cats around her home. We trapped 35 cats, sterilized and vaccinated them and returned them to their environment. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fpLTrvEdPwE She was overwhelmed with joy! She and her daughters did not mind caring for so many cats in her rural home- she just didnt want more kittens being born. Shadow Cats helped both the community, the environment and this kind caretaker in need. For her and the cats, we made all the difference in the world.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

...seeing the difference we make in both human and feline lives. Knowing that if we did not exist that many lives would be more difficult and that our mission is meaningful. Seeing in the eyes what love and compassion can do.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Shadow Cats has the BEST volunteers! Caring, compassionate and kind.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

...change the world for thousands upon thousands of cats in the central Texas (and beyond)area. Educational tools, land and shelter, veterinary care, hospice care-all would be part of an overall plan to reduce suffering and improve lives.

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?

About every week
