I began my professional career as a Child Protective Services (CPS) worker and managed to do this work in New Jersey, Arizona and Ohio for 20 years. I thought the tragedy and pain would never end for the children and their parents. Over the years, I never saw a parent who was NOT in as much pain and suffering as their child(ren). Parents do not want to abuse their children. In 2005, I began working for HFA - working to prevent child abuse/neglect. Wow, what a concept and it really does work. Now, I am able to see joy and pride on the faces of parents and children. Parents are succeeding and achieving goals for themselves and their families.
