Review for Grist Magazine, Inc., Seattle, WA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I have been a reader of Grist for several years, and I recently wrote a quick note to one of the writers, whose work I find to be consistently excellent (included below). In general, I think it's a great publication. It really helps me keep in touch with what's going on environmentally without investing inordinant amounts of time that I don't have to do so. Dear David Roberts, I've read numerous articles of yours over time, and have always been impressed with your proficiency as a writer and researcher, and with your sane, balanced voice. I thought I'd just take a moment to write and tell you how much I appreciate what you offer on a daily basis; I feel that one of the main problems with our current culture is the dwindling of actual news delivered by reporters who understand the power and purpose of their actions, and you are one of those holding the line against the loss of our collective exchange of real, independent information and analysis. It just warms my heart to read work such as yours! I hope you continue to share your excellent talents for a long time to come. Thank you.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

the high-quality information they deliver on a daily basis to a wide readership.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

keep up the good work.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

their wide-ranging environmental reporting with a sense of wry humor when appropriate.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

writers, and I only "met" them through their articles.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Educate more people on what's happening to affect the environment in our world, and help them take appropriate action.

Ways to make it better...

I had always had more time to read all their articles!

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

paying their staff fairly so that they can continue doing this work indefinitely.

One thing I'd also say is that...

I wish more news organizations had the high standards and willingness to publish actual news (rather than the shouted infotainment that passes for it)that Grist exhibits.

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?

Role:  General Member of the Public & I read their publication regularly.
