Review for Salesian Missions Inc, New Rochelle, NY, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I'm proud to be a member of the Board of Salesian Missions. Whenever I visit the missions, my Salesian heart jumps for joy to see the love, care, and concern that Salesian Missionaries extend to the poorest of the poor. In my time on the board I have personally witnessed the following Salesian ministries to: the children of the brickmakers in India (Video: www.salesianmissions.org/brickfields) ; street children in Ecuador, (Video: www.salesianmissions.org/Ecuador); youth suffering from and affected by AIDS in Trichy, India; the education for poor migrant children in Vietnam; former child soldiers in Colombia; vocational and trade school programs, teacher training programs as well as a nursing school in Haiti. I can personally testify to the good use of donor funds in making a difference and giving hope to children and young people who had no hope for a better future. God bless the goodness and sacrificial generosity of our donors.

I recently visited the Salesian Mission works in Cambodia and was very impressed with the great work the Salesians and their colleagues are doing for the poor youth of Cambodia…giving them a chance that they would not have if the Salesians were not there. All the Salesian schools, academic, vocational, and technical offer their services free of charge to the poorest of the poor in Cambodia. Not only do the Salesians educate but they also provide nourishing meals for the students with the products of the Salesian agricultural schools: chickens, fish, pigs, eggs, rice, and vegetables. I commend the Salesians of Cambodia for their zeal and initiative in reaching out to the poor and disadvantaged of Cambodia.
While I was in Cambodia, I was present for the Blessing and Dedication of the newly renovated facilities at Don Bosc, Kep, making the campus handicapped accessible. This joint project of USAID and Salesian Missions now allows our handicapped brothers and sisters full access to all the programs that Don Bosco, Kep, has to offer.

I started donating to Salesian Missions when I was in high school almost 50 years ago. I was fascinated by the great work done for poor youth and needy families around the world by Don Bosco’s Salesians. These past years instead of donating what little treasure I have, I have been donating the gift of my time at the Salesian Mission Office in New Rochelle, New York. During these years I have seen firsthand the good works sponsored by Salesian Missions in Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Haiti, India, Mexico, and Sri Lanka. I highly recommend this charity.
