Review for The Coming Home Project, San Francisco, CA, USA
This group is experienced with Veterans and open to suggestions. Their groups and retreats are formed to be welcoming, open and honest in a safe and sober atmosphere. There is a spiritual atmosphere that not everyone is ready for but if one is willing to try new things is very benificial.
More Feedback
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
Watching Veterans open up to others and make social contacts that remain after the group.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
Add more recreaiton groups not just focus on retreats
What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
The openness and willingness to work with the different Veterans to meet their needs
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
Kind, understanding, knowledgable and some Veterans themselves
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
Rule the World!! Just kidding, this program would be more amazing and would be able to expand the program and help more Veterans along with adding the recreation trips and plan other components that they would like to include.
Ways to make it better...
There were other options besides journaling during the reflection component.
In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...
Lack of funds & awareness
One thing I'd also say is that...
Although the spiritual & Zen feeling about the group is one of its strengths, it is also a weakness. Many Veterans who would benifet from the group are reluctant to join due to the spiritual component they are not willing to face.
