Review for The Forbes Funds, Pittsburgh, PA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

We've worked with The Forbes Funds since 2004. Throughout the years, our relatively small nonprofit has benefited from its reports, conferences, initiatives and -- most notably -- its remarkable staff. The Greater Pittsburgh Nonprofit Partnership (GPNP), a Forbes Funds creation, has brought our community together in a way that encourages learning and engagement. Specialized programs have been top-notch and worth the investment of our time, including, for us, the most recent Love Your Space Cohort during which Forbes Funds and the Green Building Alliance convened talented subject matter experts to support people planning renovations or relocations such as our organization.

Review for The Forbes Funds, Pittsburgh, PA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

The Forbes Funds has had dramatic, lasting impact on our region's nonprofit sector. Research papers published by The Forbes Funds helped educate and inspire me to pursue best practices during our earliest years as a 501(c)(3) and its founding of the Greater Pittsburgh Nonprofit Partnership not only brought our organization lasting value and insight, but allowed people to connect, learn, serve and work together in ways that were previously unlikely if not impossible. As a fledgling non-profit, a Technical Assistance Grant in 2007 helped us develop our first strategic plan and become a well-respected mid-sized organization that serves with focus and clarity. We continue to benefit from consultative services and roundtables, including the current Love Your Space cohort. In short, We are a better nonprofit because of The Forbes Funds and its staff, and all of Pittsburgh benefits from its work.

Review for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, PA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

10+ years ago, a BBBS of Greater Pittsburgh Board Member asked me if we would consider airing a regular segment showcasing "Big/Little" matches on our radio program. We jumped at the chance and our BBBS monthly feature began. Over the years, we've featured 60+ pairs, each with a unique story and relationship, all with a bond that has been clearly transformational. Without exception, every big/little pair I have met is on a trajectory toward a lifelong relationship with positive impacts to both participants. Projecting further, each participating little is poised to embrace being a mentor when he or she is old enough to be one, thus extending this positive cycle of human interaction.

The BBBS staff is hardworking and devoted to mission. They're also genuinely kind people who care about collaboration, innovative programming and -- above all -- serving our area's children and youth with excellence. I'm grateful and proud that we're able to work together.
