Review for Longhopes Donkey Shelter Inc, Bennett, CO, USA
Longhopes Donkey Shelter is just the best animal sanctuary I've ever experienced. My husband and I adopted two donkeys, a mother-daughter pair originally from BLM's Havasu reserve, in 2011. They've changed our lives for the better. Whenever we've needed information or help, Kathy Dean and Kelly Walters have offered wise counsel and encouragement. The Shelter is spotless and a place of love and hope, one that values the individuality of each donkey and that keeps expanding on a shoestring. The enthusiasm of the Longhopes volunteers is infectious. It speaks worlds for this organization -- especially when many others who try to give their time to wildlife and rescue organizations in Colorado seem to end up frustrated. Longhopes does impressive outreach to universities, high schools and veterinary training centers such as Colorado State University. Kathy and her husband Allen's full-time dedication (without pay) ensure that the bulk of every dollar donated supports their rescue, adoption, relief and educational programs. Longhopes stands out above any nonprofit of its kind, and is a great example to any who hope to develop their own rescue program.
