Review for Medical Mutts, Indianapolis, IN, USA
I have used Medical Mutts for a variety of services. I bought a puppy and went with her to their self-training puppy class. And then I did the board and train with this same puppy since I was traveling a lot at that time and they took great care of her and continued with her training while I was traveling. She is now a little over a year and is a fantastic companion and Service Dog. She can alert to my low blood sugars (I'm a type 1 diabetic) and she can retrieve a bag of glucose tabs for me. We are working on her being able to retrieve my phone. Her public access manners are very good, and we are bonding tightly as a team. We are working on polishing her skills -- a Service Dog's training is never over and done as it's important to reinforce (daily!) the tasks they learn. Altho I didn't obtain one of their rescued dogs (I chose to get a specific breed of dog), I love that they get dogs from shelters to try to see if they can help them successfully become Service animals. I feel they emphasize the importance of learning about and knowing your dog and the way it communicates. I love that they use positive training methods. I cannot say enough good things about Medical Mutts. Their staff are knowledgeable and caring, good teachers of humans and canines, and are professional in their approach.
Review for Paws and Think Inc, Indianapolis, IN, USA
Paws and Think is staffed with amazing volunteers and exceptional dogs. The work that I am so pleased to be a part of brings smiles to patients in hospitals, assistance to second grade readers, and hope to youth in detention. These are generous, kind, and funny people who share their generous, kind, and funny dogs with children and adults who, for a variety of reasons, are in a vulnerable time in their lives. It brings joy to my heart as I watch my dog comfort someone in a nursing home or when I watch my Golden sit quietly with an 8 year old who struggles to read aloud - no judgement, just acceptance. Now if that isn't a lovely gift, I don't know what is!
