Review for Blind Cat Rescue & Sanctuary Inc, St. Pauls, NC, USA

Rating: 5 stars

Blind Cat Rescue & Sanctuary is known by its supporters as "the Happiest Place on Earth". Established in 2005 the Director Alana Miller made a promise that the cats in her care would get the best lives possible and would be in their forever home. A promise she continues to keep. Blind cats at first and then Fiv + & FeLv + cats who are deemed unadoptable. Some of the resident cats have been there for many years living the good life. I first visited in 2016 and returned each year until Covid 19 arrived. Normally each month they hold an Open House each month where members of the public can visit and see how well these little bundles of joy are living out their lives. After a cat passes away they are interred in the Memorial Garden. Sadly with FeLv + cats they don't always get the life span they deserve. The staff are the absolute best and the rooms are cleaned each and every day. Live tours each day and "chats & boxes" shows the gifts that supporters send. Once this pandemic is over I recommend to anyone who can to visit and see firsthand this remarkable place. Photos are Precious who regained his sight Chester Willow & Uncle Fester.

I have visited all the way from Australia for 4 years in a row now. It is known as "the Happiest Place on Earth" among us supporters. The cats are living in their furever home which includes a memorial garden that includes Memorial Stones donated by sponsors. The staff are devoted and work very hard to give the residents the best life possible. Each room is cleaned daily and you really could eat off the floor. I would highly recommend people to put this on their bucket list. There is a 'work for stay' guesthouse available. Work is hard but very rewarding. I met some of the most amazing cats and people through BCR and I am proud to call them family. 2020 is their 15th Anniversary and the Director Alana Miller has done a wonderful job and we love her for it. They are open for the public Monday to Saturday from noon to 4 pm. (not during the pandemic though) You can catch live tours at noon and 3 pm Eastern time.

I have visited BCR for the past three years and each visit has been memorable. The cats all get the best of care for what time they have. Blind Fiv+ and FeLv cats living the life they deserve. Cannot say enough about the Director Alana and her staff for all their hard work. Have also met so many wonderful caring people through BCR. Amongst the Friends of BCR it is commonly known as "The Happiest Place on Earth". I volunteer each time I come and enjoy all my time spent here. The cats are given a promise : This will be their Forever Home. There is a lovely Memorial Garden for the kitties who have past. I highly recommend BCR to everyone who loves cats. I don't really like to play favourites but Mickey stole my heart the first day I arrived. He is such a sweet boy. Would not leave me alone.

I have visited and volunteered here once a year since 2016. The guesthouse is available free for helping the staff in the mornings. The kitties live here in absolute comfort and are in their forever home. The director and the staff are exceptional. Because of public donations the kitties get the great life they deserve. I come all the way from Australia to get loved on by them. Met so many great friends through BCR. I really wish that there were more sanctuaries like this so blind Fiv+ and Felv+ kitties could have a deserving home. This year they have been able to expand with a new building and now are caring for over 100 very special kitties. I hope more people will become aware of BCR and the amazing work they do. They have amazing live tours each day where you can witness these little beauties. Mickey Bunny and Bear are just three of the residents here.

Visited and volunteered here for the last two years. Coming again in July. The staff are really great and the cats are adorable. Living out their lives in peace and being totally cared for. I recommend you to visit here. There is a guesthouse to stay and once a month they have Open House. Meet friendly people and help them and these deserving kitties. Alana Miller has created a Sanctuary for blind Fiv+ and Fiv+ kitties. Made some good friendships here. While here you have to say 'Hi' to Mr Snicker & Bunny and the crew. Apart from a Gilligan & a Thurston you can meet the rest of the castaways from Gilligan's Island (in name). Among the staff and guests this is known as The Happiest Place on Earth. pic of Mickey from my last visit.

Review for Puffy Paws Kitty Haven, Englewood, FL, USA

Rating: 5 stars

Puffy Paws Kitty Haven is a wonderful sanctuary. I wish I could do more for them. They are caring for 200 kitties that are supposedly 'unadoptable' and would normally be put to sleep. They exist on a week-to-week basis. The owners do not take a salary and all money goes towards the cats' upkeep. Their books are open for all to see. They truly are The Greatest Cathouse in the World. They deserve all the money that the public donates and they recieve nothing from the Government. If you can donate anything I highly recommend Puffy Paws.

I only found out about this charity on facebook courtesy of the candy-corn kittens. I have donated money and food from the Amazon wish list and set up an annual donation with my American Card. The work these wonderful people do for the disadvantaged kitties is a Godsend. Reading the stories of the little angels who have passed on all too quickly breaks my heart but knowing their lives ended surrounded by love eases the pain. I have five kitties waiting for me at the Rainbow Bridge. I am hoping there will come a day soon when there will be a cure for FIP and FELV and eye disease so kitties in the future can have the stress-free lives they all deserve. Please help the charity any way you can. It will be worth it. My present two kitties Cuddly and Fluffy appreciate what is being done for their distant cousins and send their love.
