Review for Women in Film & Video Inc, Washington, DC, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I joined Women in Film & Video, Inc. in 2005 to network for my business. Through participating in various events as a volunteer or an attendee, I met many strong and thoughtful women, developing friendships and business relationships. By participating with WIFV, I have made the most of my membership. Through the contacts I've made through WIFV, I have grown my business enough to support both itself and me and was able to quit my "day job" last year (2009). I am now a member of the board and serve as Executive Vice President of this wonderful organization.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Through participating and volunteering I have found more new clients. Through the contacts I've made at WIFV, my company has been hired by the top networks in non-fiction television.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

The sisterhood and friendships I've developed here have helped tremendously in getting through the rough spots of running your own business.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Provide more education for women and men in the film, television and digital media industry, with the aim of boosting the industry and leveling the playing field for women in particular. It also could help more with funding to women making great content.

Ways to make it better...

If the organization would have paired me up with a mentor in my field, I may have been able to accomplish what I have faster and with less stress.

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?

About every week
