My Nonprofit Reviews
Review for Americans for the Arts, Washington, DC, USA
Americans for the Arts is one of the strongest arts service and advocacy organizations in the country. I had attended their conferences and workshops, read their publications, gotten helpful professional information on their website and received timely information about public- and private-sector support available to the arts sector. I serve on their board and make annual contributions to this fine organization. My reflections in this "review" is based on the services and information AFTA most ably provides to the cultural sector.
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
their conferences and publications, their timely updates to the cultural sector and the strong and effective collaborative partnerships they have built over the years with a variety of arts and non-arts organizations, artists and leaders.
What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
that there is a national perspective. AFTA brings a deep understanding of urban, rural, statewide, discipline-specific and cultural policy issues.
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
deeply involved in the major policy issues of the cultural sector.
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
be even more effective in reaching a broad-based constituency. There are opportunities to do advocate for strong arts education programs throughout the country. AFTA is well positioned to accomplish a lot in this field.
