Review for Provincetown Counter Productions, Provincetown, MA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I have had the pleasure of working with PROVINCETOWN COUNTER PRODUCTIONS as a freelance costume designer for the past year. I have always been treated warmly and professionally, with the utmost respect for my skill and expertise. The quality of the shows produced on a shoestring budget is amazing.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

their ability to bring year round theater to a mainly Summer community is astounding.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

hire more staff, so the few didn't have to do the work of so many. Also, find them a permanent "home" for their productions.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

their trust and loyalty to the professionals who work for them. And the high quality of work produced by a small operation.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

fun to work with; dedicated to the company; willing to give so much of their time and energy; some of the best people I know.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

own their own theater; pay their dedicated volunteers; raise their production values; bring even more quality theater to the community; implement teaching and internship programs; the possibilities are endless!

Ways to make it better...

It always comes down to money! As a designer I've had to make due with small budgets and fees. With better funding the production values could be amazing.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Money. Especially in these times of economic crisis, keeping arts organizations thriving is difficult, but essential to the strength of communities. Counter Prod. already does amazing things; with greater funding their accomplishment could be fantastic.

One thing I'd also say is that...

Counter Prod. has a way of bringing a small community together and producing quality theater, year round, where others have not been able.

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?

About every month
