Review for SLB Radio Productions, Inc., Pittsburgh, PA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

It's always a great pleasure to be asked on the Saturday Light Brigade as musical guest. My name is Slim Forsythe and with my band, the Parklane Drifters, I have been performing in the Pittsburgh---Southwestern Pennsylvania area over the last five years. We do my original songs as well as an extensive body of classic/traditional Country and Folk music. The Saturday Light Brigade is the perfect forum for our work. I also commend Larry Berger and his staff for their outreach projects in the community, particularly the many ways they encourage creativity in young people.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

being not only a guest, but a frequent listener and learning how to meet Slim Bryant, who is over 100 years old now and the last living person to have played and recorded with Jimmy Rodgers, the father of CW Music!

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Become the House Band and try and develope an entire programming component around live studio audience performances.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

Meeting and conversing with Larry Berger whose passion for the beauty and legacy of what might be called, "Old Time Radio" is as big as my own.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Production and outreach folks, helping Larry actually produce the show and reaching out to the community via various projects.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Reach a larger audience and do even more good community work, helping young people.

Ways to make it better...

I would have spent more effort getting the word out to people to let them know they can be part of the live studio audience of the SLB.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

As always, finding the money to continue the good work and getting the word out to as many people as they can about what they're doing.

One thing I'd also say is that...

They even gave us a CD of our performance and it's one of the best radio gigs I've ever done.

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?

About every six months
