Debbie's Dream Foundation: Curing Stomach Cancer (DDF) is the premier stomach (gastric) cancer organization. It raises money for research directly through fundraisers and indirectly through advocacy initiatives in Washington, DC. Even though stomach cancer kills more than 10,000 people a year, this cancer gets the least federal funding per cancer death of any cancer, and DDF is working to change that profile in DC. In addition, DDF raises awareness about stomach cancer in the hope that people can get diagnosed at any early stage when the chances of survival are better. Now 80% of stomach cancers are not diagnosed until Stage IV, when the disease is incurable and the chance of surviving five years is 4%. DDF also has a unique Patient Resource and Education Program (PREP) which provides education and support internationally to patients, families and caregivers. DDF has an incredible Medical Advisory Board of leading physicians from the top cancer centers in the nation, and each year some of them come to Florida to participate in a Stomach Cancer Symposium which can be accessed through a webinar. These symposia are archived on the website.
