Review for Interplay Inc, Oak Park, IL, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I left Kansas City in 2009 to follow my passion of dance, movement, creativity, improv, storytelling, community and transformation. I moved to California for 6 months to take the InterPlay Life Practice r. Little did I know how much my inner being was yearning for a way to express all the feelings, creativity and essence that lay untapped for so long. The program provided the freedom to explore self through forms, story, song, stillness and movement. The beauty of spontaneous dance and story opened hearts and minds to explore beyond personal boundaries through the spirit of play and community. The ongoing dedication of Cynthia Winton-Henry and Phil Porter for excellence and global social change is evident in their classes, website exchanges and reaching out in the community to support and foster the human spirit. Today I lead playgroups in Kansas City and am exceedingly amazed at the beauty of creative play that changes lives and creates community. Later this year I will be utilizing InterPlay for Inner City, challenged youth and in school districts for teachers.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

my daily living practices, personal artistry and local community.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Currently I have no changes that I feel is needed.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

continued ability to be inspired and the tools that I use in daily living as well as the ability to create community where play, movement and inner essence is allowed to flourish.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

helpful, present, and supportive.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

change the way the world lives and views life. InterPlay would be instituted as a main staple in schools, prisons, hospitals, corporations, businesses, churches to foster community, diversity communication and well being for all.

Ways to make it better...

I could bring the InterPlay community in California to Kansas City on a permanent basis.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

receiving greater financial funding to grow in a larger capacity.

One thing I'd also say is that...

thank goodness there is InterPlay out there that creates change and well being in a playful, easy way where all are welcomed and celbrated

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?

About every week

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?

2010

Role:  Client Served & InterPlay has literally changed my life and opened up the inner artist and dancer to blossom and flourish. I realized my passion for free form dance, silliness and spontaniety while living in community. Dance was the closest experience for me of being in.
