Review for Durga Tree International, Inc, Sparta, NJ, USA

Rating: 5 stars

The past year has been a year of wonderful transition and international growth for Durga.
We completed our Travel Safety Tool Kit and will be offering at no cost digitally to any student who travels abroad.
9 young women graduated from our Thai Bloom program and are making jewelry for their own businesses as well as a local NGO. We are now sponsoring additional at risk young women in Thailand.
Our conscious shopping guide and presentation has given over a 1000 consumers tools to make fair trade purchases and reduce their personal slavery imprint.
I have travelled to Asia and done oversight for our organization as well as several places around the globe educating people about modern slavery and what they can do to reduce the growth of this epidemic.

I am blessed to be on the board for this incredible organization. The Durga Tree community has awakened my desire to be an active participant in changing the world. It is exciting to see how much we have been able to accomplish in such a short period of time and what we have planned for this year.
I am also in awe of all the courageous survivors we serve every day. When I need a reminder of my blessings all I have to do is think about the smiles on the faces of those who have suffered so much but hope for a better tomorrow.
Durga Tree International offers that hope and I am humbled to be a small part of that.

I am honored to be the Director of this collaborative organization. In this last year as our organization has grown so too has the quality of our programs as well as the amount of people we are able to serve worldwide. Our mission, promise and philosophy have also evolved in a way that gives me great hope that together we are creating long lasting sustainable change for survivors of Human Trafficking.

Review for Good Shepherd Sustainable Learning Foundation, Milford, PA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

Good Shepherd Sustainable Learning Foundation is an affiliate of Durga Tree International and we have had the honor of working alongside the Rev. Elizabeth Geitz and Brenda Ruello to raise awareness and funds for their incredible charity this past year.

Their mission to promote access to education in Cameroon, West Africa in a safe environment that prepares students to build lives of economic and environmental sustainability is so very important in the world we live in today. With children being the largest target for human trafficking, education is a key element to their safety & over all wellbeing. In just a few short years, this small dedicated team of volunteers has raised over half a million dollars toward the phase 1 building of their school. This incredible feat speaks to the tireless passion everyone involved with GSSLF has for this cause. What this means for those they serve is that soon Cameroon children will have a safe, modern facility to learn and grow.

This charity has been an inspiration & role model for our new charity. They are incredibly professional, transparent and efficient. We feel confident that every dollar we donate to them will be put to good use. We are proud to be working along side them to foster empowerment and hope for children around the globe & we are confident that we will be collaborating for many years to come with Good Shepherd as their vision grows.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Give them all the money they need to build their school this year!

Review for T E N Charities (a.k.a. Her Future Coalition), St Augustine, FL, USA

Rating: 5 stars

My relationship began several years ago with Ten Charities and Made By Survivors when I began purchasing their beautifully handcrafted jewelry for my wellness center. Their product has always been a favorite with my customers. From this professional relationship, I grew in awareness of the epidemic that is human trafficking & how every purchase and person is affected on some level. I have always been impressed by the mission of MBS. They not only shelter these survivors but economically empower them through teaching them a trade.

Last year we were approached to fundraise for Made By Survivors and my husband, myself and my niece Jess Hoertel jumped at the opportunity to financially help such a worthy, reputable charity. We initially thought we would host one fundraiser and that would be that, however, after more education around human slavery we decided to dedicate ourselves to working with organizations such as Ten Charities/MadeBy Survivors to empower them financially so that they can continue doing the wonderful work to help eradicate human slavery.

Since our first meeting with Sarah Symons we have had nothing but a positive experience collaborating with her and the team at Made By Survivors. The organizational skills needed to partner with not only our charity but several in India has been inspiring and a great learning tool for us. Every time we have asked for reports & updates regarding donations made, we have gotten them immediately which only speaks to their transparency and professionalism.

I feel so excited about our partnership with Made By Survivors.
