Review for Copperstar Repertory Company, Chandler, AZ, USA
My 13 year old daughter started in a Copperstar 2-week summer camp 2 years ago. This was her first real introduction to theater. I was amazed at how much she learned in such a short amount of time. They not only had time for fun games and learning all morning - they spent the 2nd half of the day rehearsing a show to performed at the end of the camp session. This included singing, full choreographed dance numbers and speaking lines. Every child had a part, none were excluded or left to entertain themselves at any point during the day. She was fully committed to theater from that point on. She has been in 4 Copperstar full-length productions since. She also takes dance classes at their new studios and loves it. The environment is nurturing--even with a challenging situation with a large cast of young children-I am consistently impressed with how well the directors maintain calm among the cast. If you are interested in community theater for yourself or your child, you should at least check out one of Copperstar's shows at The Mesa Arts Center - you will be pleasantly surprise by the professional level of talent and staging.
