Review for G4G Ministries Inc, Statesville, NC, USA
A wonderful opportunity to engage the community, serve others, and participant in an activity that is rewarding, humbling, and encouraging all at the same time . Although it is difficult to share just one story that captures the spirit of these events I share the following: We joined a Hispanic church in Statesville, NC for a fund raiser to assist on a mission effort. It was an early summer morning set up and being on Saturday this neighborhood Church had many folks in their yards going about their weekend chores. Two events occurred i'll never forget. First, we like to use lot's of soaked wood chips and smoke up the area grilling our special recipe chicken. We had a steady blue plume coming from the grill early. There was an elderly gentlemen directly across the street mowing his grass. As the morning progressed I observed him, after a few hours, cut the mowers engine off, throw down his work gloves where he was, head inside the front door of his house and come right back out that door in our direction. I was unsure of his pleasure in the activities at this small church. As he got closer I could hear him tell one of the folks from the church he had been smelling that #@%^ chicken all morning and "come to get him some!" We all had a laugh. When the cooking for this event ended the Hispanic pastor and his congregation prayed for us as a group prior to departing. Holding hands in a circle the pastor would make a plea, the congregation would follow, another plea, another response. This prayer went up for maybe 3 minutes. I understood only a few words like "Jesus", "gracious", etc. I can tell you to this day that was one of most intense moments in prayer I've ever experienced. The Holy Spirit was among His people. This was amazing praise and prayer. The chicken was awesome too. Serving a cause for a "greater purpose". Come see for yourself. Go to www.grillforgod.com and check out the schedule of events.
