My Nonprofit Reviews
Review for WhyHunger, New York, NY, USA
I first got involved with WHY as a member of the review committee for the Harry Chapin Hunger and Media Awards. I was honored when this unique organization asked me to join its board of directors, and since becoming a member 4 years ago, I have grown ever more impressed with its commitment and performance.
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
The up to date information and resources provided by its Food Security Learning Center. It is great to have such a well maintained resource to which I can refer students who develop an interest in creative solutions to hunger and poverty
What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
watching it develop and improve it performance. WHY has always had its heart in the right place, but under the leadership of its current staff, I've watched its head catch up with its heart. It could serve as a case study in "continuous improvement."
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
Extraordinarily dedicated, generous, talented and creative!
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
Dramatically expand its capacity to empower local grassroots organizations to address the fundamental causes of hunger and poverty, and increase its impact on public policy through outreach and education (and rent office space adequate to these tasks).
