Review for Interfaith Rotating Winter Shelter of Davis, Davis, CA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I volunteered for the IRWS the past 2 years at Davis U. Methodist Church as a driver, bringer of food, and overnight supervisor. I had many opportunities to talk with our guests and listened to of their stories of life on the street. I am impressed by how many volunteers step up to help in the effort, and each year (including this season) the effort is better organized. All the shelter, beds, food and labor is provided by the local community, especially the participating churches. I think we've never turned anybody away for lack of beds, food, etc.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

mobilizing local churches and university youth

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

I don't know

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

getting to know other volunteers and our homeless clients

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

the best sort of people

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

expand to many other communities and train more leaders

Ways to make it better...

homelessness wasn't a problem

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

getting more people involved

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?

About once a year
