Review for Physicians for Human Rights, Inc., Cambridge, MA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I used to a dues paying member before moving back out west. This is a great concept well implemented. We need more groups like this.I hope to renew my affiliation and edit this review to make a more substantitive case in favor of PHR.

I also called up Dr.Larry Gostin who was the United Nations Special Rappateur for the Rights of Vulnerable Persons. He was their chief at PHR, I don't recall his title, but the accessibility was helpful as I prepared a public comment for the US House of Representatives Select Committee.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Maybe balance their Gitmo work s more work on Zimbabwe to broaden their appeared.

Review for Doctors Without Borders USA Inc, New York, NY, USA

Rating: 5 stars

MSF sets the standard. Their reports to the media are highly regarded. Unparralled.

I have been in developing nations during war it is not a picnic. I just had my EMS I respect the very fact of completing medical education. To then eschew raking in the money doing elective cosmetic surgery and to put your life on the line going into Syria is awesome.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

I have no criticism.Maybe they should be more protective of their trade name.

Review for Interfaith Initiative Of Santa Barbara County, Santa Barbara, CA, USA

Rating: 4 stars

I always enjoy the interfaith dinners and enjoyed the interfaith Thanksgiving services until I became disillusioned with the failure of the participating Unitarian, Episcopal and Methodist ministers to be more responsive to my concerns with sanitation and hygiene at their "Freedom Warming Center. But in principle the Thanksgiving service is a great idea. I need to see more substance and practice of what is preached.

But none of that is the fault of IISB.To the contrary, they made Project HEAL available to me as a venue to develop the Cough Hygiene Initiative. We hold monthly meet and Greet outreaches in which I brief the unhoused

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Need to be more willing to rock the boat amongst other faith-based organizations when they are aware of abuse of power by ecclesial authority HEAL is incapacitated;it is so wrapped up with pushing Jesus that I have limited expectations unless they curb the fundamentalist element and bring in some other, more qualified Buddhist and Judeophilic leadership. Ecofaith I finnd overly sanguine about faith and insufficiently appreciative of other perspectives such as science. EOM/Android erratta:ied

Review for Casa Esperanza Homeless Center, Santa Barbara, CA, USA

Rating: 4 stars

Geof Bard offers this perspective in an effort to implement right intention and Buddhist detachment but as an engaged Mahayana Buddhist striver is enmeshed in karma such that these views may not be agreed with by all.
My role is complex but review is from perspective of member of the South Coast Advisory Committee.

Director Michael Foley excellent knowledge. Good continuity of leadership.
Open door policy exceeds expectations, regarding director and staff.
Good attention to biosecurity-hand sanitizer, soap, ventilation are good.Space per user excellent in day area.

I have not viewed the dormitory can't comment on space per client.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Financial management may need revamping and I believe that is in process. Attention to uniform standards of shelter biosecurity is by far the best of any facility I have been fortunate enough to view but better cough hygiene and hand washing would be helpful. Not enough nonsmoker square footage in the enclosed patio and lack of a strong anti-smoking commitment. g
