Parrot Outreach Society
Review for Parrot Outreach Society, Punta Gorda, FL, USA
I heard about Parrot Outreach Society while attending the Grand Opening for the new location of a local parrot store I had been going to for all my parrots needs. While viewing the new store, I was introduced to Pam from Parrot Outreach Society who couldn't wait to tell about the Non-Profit Exotic Parrot Rescue that she volunteers to work for. I was so impressed on how passionate and dedicated she was about the rescuing, rehabilitating, and finding homes for these parrots which in return gives them a second chance and new start in life. It couldn't been better timing, because I had been thinking for a while about purchasing another macaw myself. I already have a blue & gold which I've had for 23 yrs. and a scarlet macaw that I've had for 14 yrs. but yet I wanted to add another bird to my flock.
I filled out the application and within a few weeks Pam contacted me about a Green Wing Macaw that she was concerned about. She was looking for a special home for him and explained the situation to me. I made the trip to Parrot Outreach to visit him. When I arrived I was blown away. The birds were extremely cared for and every bird had a name and story. I couldn't believe how clean the cages were and each bird had its favorite toys and fresh food and water. Besides the caged parrots, there were birds sitting out on perches enjoying their freedom and greeted me as I walked around visiting each and every bird. Then I noticed Captain, the green wing Pam spoke to me about. What a beautiful macaw! I fell in love with how gentle and loving he was. He is special! The rest is history and he's a big part of our family.
I would like to commend Parrot Outreach Society for the work they do. I hope more people turn to rescues when thinking of purchasing a new bird. Adoption is the way to go!
