Review for Cambodian Community Dream Organization, Inc., New York, NY, USA

Rating: 5 stars

This is a wonderful non- profit organization. Years after volunteer work to support teacher training it is heart -warming to see sustained good work continued by other volunteers and especially by the teachers on site. Sustaining good work and organized volunteer coordination is key to a successful organization. So many children and their community continue to benefit from this good work.

I have been involved with CCDO for over two years. The most valuable gift of this charity is the continuity and sustainability of the volunteer work. I worked as a teacher trainer two years ago. Similar work has followed the same goals and objectives with the teachers.
Materials to support the teacher work is directly delivered with volunteers to the school site.
Many pounds of excellent books for children to learn English are carried in the suitcases of volunteers to be sure they are directly distributed to the excellent library and to the teachers.
Highly recommended!

After 30 plus years of doing teacher training in public schools, I wanted a meaningful volunteer experience in which to use my skills. On a trip to Burma , I met the VP of CCDO and the rest was history!
I am so impressed with the work that this organization does. I have seen it in action and now am becoming part of that action. The organization is run by and utilizes volunteers and overhead is low.
Money and services and materials go directly to the people in Cambodia. As an example, my husband and I will be bringing a group of retired teachers to work in the schools. Fundraisers were held to go to directly sponsoring a school. High quality new educational books were donated. Those books will be carried by the volunteers to the schools. The teachers will work on teacher training in collaboration with the Cambodian teachers. The use of the materials will be modeled. Teaching strategies will be shared. The outcome of the mission will be building the capacity of the schools to continue the work on their own.
A key component is getting input from the teachers as to what will be most helpful for them.
My husband will bring graduate students to work in and learn about the work being done in the villages and communities. Skilled and hard-working volunteers are rolling up their sleeves and heading to Cambodia, to continue the work that has been done by so many before us. Jenni, president of the organization has put together an incredible organization. I am honored to be a part of the efforts.
