My Nonprofit Reviews
Review for God's Love We Deliver, Inc., New York City, NY, USA
9/11 got me off my butt to start volunteering. I had always secretly wanted to volunteer before that. After volunteering briefly for The Salvation Army, I looked into God's Love We Deliver. Now I've been a delivery person with them on and off for about 10 years, give or take. As a freelancer, being a delivery person was the best job I could commit too...knowing that I could be covered if I had to take a gig if it conflicted. Pat is super great in the office as the point person. She is very clear, enthusiastic and upbeat in her communication.
Every year they do a volunteer appreciation party. To my mind, this is unnecessary since I don't do it for that reason. But it is indicative of how much they appreciate the time. If you go to visit the office space (currently under reconstruction/expansion), the energy there is fantastic. You can feel the love in the space. Oh yeah, absolutely.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
...have less mistakes in what gets packed in the bins. Those bins get delivered to drop off locations. Then the deliverers go to those locations to pick up the food. I would get more quality control in terms of packing the proper amount of food.
