Review for Happy Hollow Children's Camp, Inc., Indianapolis, IN, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I have had the privilege of attending Happy Hollow Children's Asthma Camp as a nurse for about thirty years and have been on the board of directors for twenty-five years. We serve underprivileged intercity children who otherwise would not have the opportunity to experience the outdoors that includes horses, a lake, canoeing, archery, campfires and hiking. We ask a minimum amount from their families as we write grants and fund raise for the dollars to send them to camp. Many of our campers have come back after growing up to tell up that we made a huge difference in their lives, which is most gratifying.

Review for Happy Hollow Children's Camp, Inc., Indianapolis, IN, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I have been fortunate to be involved with Happy Hollow Children's Camp since 1988. I started as a volunteer nurse at the Asthma Camp; became a board member in 1995; and am currently the Secretary of the Board. I feel blessed to go to camp every summer to spend a glorious week with 120 potentially wheezing children. I am not sure who has more fun, the kids or me!! Happy Hollow serves children from all walks of life. We serve children from the inner-city and those that may have medical diagnoses that prohibit them from attending other camps. They experiences activities that they may have never been exposed to such as: horseback riding, rock climbing, a zip line, fishing, canoeing and swimming in a lake led by a very dedicated staff. They also are fed the best camp food in the world (in my humble opinion.) It is truly a wonderful learning experience for our children.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Increase the numbers of children we serve.
