My Nonprofit Reviews
Review for Jewish Heart For Africa, New York, NY, USA
Currently, I am aiming to raise money for JHA by asking people to sponsor me for running the ING NYC Marathon (yesterday). In addition, I volunteered on the Planning Committee for the June 09 event, and volunteered serving food at the event, as well. Was also inspired by performances at the 92nd Street Y and the JHA June Gala to take up Afro-Carribean dancing, which started in September at the Y.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
Perhaps open a third office in Eastern Africa.
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
A very eclectic group of Jews and non-Jews who were united by JHA's mission.
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
Save all billion lives in Africa from famine, drought and disease.
Ways to make it better...
Honestly, I feel that JHA is still small enough that it understands the importance of the volunteer, and I have felt this at every event I've attended. I always feel appreciated when I help out or raise money for them.
In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...
Funding and publicity. They have such a unique idea in their mission, that's it's truly a wonder that more foundations have yet to get on board.
