My Nonprofit Reviews
Review for CityScience, Brooklyn, NY, USA
I have the pleasure of serving as CityScience's Board Chair, so its fair to ask whether I might be slightly biased. The point, however, is this: We are at a crucial time for education in general, and STEM education in New York City particular. We need young inquirers, learners, and analyzers. And yet budgets are being cut and, at the middle school level, due to lack of resources, science is often taught inconsistently, leading to kids being turned off to science at a young age.
I am proud to say that CityScience's practice - in schools, in after-school programs, in summer institutes and teacher training sessions - is true to its motto of seeking to Inspire Exploration. And I have witnessed first-hand the effectiveness of CityScience in working with teachers to help them to deliver exciting hands-on inquiry-based STEM education to their students.
My hope for CityScience is to extend our reach so we can touch as many teachers - and hence their students - as possible.
