Review for Town & Village Conservative Synagogue Inc, New York, NY, USA

Rating: 5 stars

T & V is a most warm and welcoming place. As a place of Jewish observance, it couples a great spiritual tradition with highly egalitarian and participatory services. As a place of Jewish community, it offers compelling opportunities for learning, tzedakah (charity), and social action. It felt like home to me and my family from the first time we stepped in the door.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

. . . establishing a monthly service and dinner for the largely unaffiliated young Jewish community that seeks a greater spiritual connection.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

. . . find the funds to hire an Executive Director who could help organize and channel congregational resources.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

. . . learning how to read Hebrew and chant Torah, thus participating in and continuing an age-old tradition and mitzvah.

Ways to make it better...

. . . there were more funding and administrative support for the boundless energy and volunteerism of this community.

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?

Role:  Board Member & I've served in many ways, but most rewardingly, as the co-chair of a committee that organized events and services designed to reach out to unaffiliated Jews and to renew and deepen religious ties both within and beyond the congregation.
