Review for My Hero Project Inc, Laguna Beach, CA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

One morning of July 2004 in Slovakia my life took a sharp turn When I met with Jeanne Meyers, the director of the My Hero project. I fell in love right away with the project and I started celebrating heroes around the world with my students. The kind of social, cultural and human values that My Hero celebrates are extremely helpful in our Senegalese educational system. We need to promote the values of love, empathy, supportiveness, and humanity in an ever growing world of mutations and the My Hero project is there with an incredibly huge archive of thousands of inspiring stories that can change your life overnight. As a project based on showing examples of people whose lives have been exceptional in terms of positive impacts that they made in their community, My Hero has touched the life of so many people in the world. As a revolutionary project celebrating the best of humanity, My Hero is the best partner of education that I know of. It helped me bring a much needed change in my life and in the life of my students. In effect in 2008, the My Hero project initiated a Global Exchange to help Senegal and other countries learn about digital media. Due to that life changing experience some Senegalese students and teachers learned to produce documentaries about their heroes, which has been a great achievement that they could not have got without the empowerment of the My Hero project. I sincerely believe that changing people's life for the better is the least thing that the My Hero project does. In fact the project helps people realize the potential that they have in becoming agents of change that can help the members of their community have a better future.

My name is Cheikh Darou Seck and I am an English teacher from Senegal. This is one the best project I have been involved. To tell the truth this project changed my life since I met with its co-founder Jeanne Meyers in Slovakia in 2004. Ever since this project helped me see the world from a different angle as they taught me how to make video . They have also empowered so many Senegalese teachers and media students with the Global Exchange project that they initiated in 2007 with the US state department. As far as I can tell they have changed the life of people in countries like Jordan, Kosovo, Belarus, Macedonia to name but a few. It is a revolutionary project and a great educational tool as it helps students improve their reading and writing skills by sharpening their storytelling capabilities. It also helped people all over the world fitting them with technological means such as computers, video cameras, microphones so they can make films. before I met them I was just an English teacher. Now I am an English teacher, a film maker and a global educator.

The MY HERO project has been a unique journey for me. It has created a unique opportunity for me to undergo some great professional and personal development over the years. i think what makes MY HERO really great as a project is their sincere dedication to empower educators and learners around the world and to bring other people's great deeds and experiences available to draw inspiration from. I believe that MY HERO is one of the best projects that really strives to bring a positive change in people's nature and to make the world a better place to live in.
