Review for Houston Tuesday Musical Club, Houston, TX, USA
The Houston Tuesday Musical Club was founded in 1911, so is celebrating it's 103rd Season. The goal of the Founders was to encourage the arts in Houston.
HTMC sponsors two competitions each year, granting scholarships to young musicians in the Houston area. We also donate to the Lena Pope Home and Bering Omega House (an AIDS hospice). The Houston Tuesday Musical Club has a tradition of bringing distinguished artist to Houston and presents a minimum of eleven lecture/recitals from September through April. These lecture/recitals are free and open to the public. The Houston Tuesday Musical Club is comprised of performers and audience members. Each year, we present some of our distinguished performers in a Sunday Afternoon Musicale. The event is also free and open to the public.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
encourage more people to join as either Associate Members or Performing Members (audition required). The friendships made in the Houston Tuesday Musical Club are often lifelong.
