My Nonprofit Reviews
Review for Your Dog's Friend, Rockville, MD, USA
Your Dog's Friend had a great free seminar last weekend on "Overcoming Your Dog's Fear of People" by Jeni Grant. This was the second free workshop that I have attended. This organization and those who come to lecture are providing a hugely important service to the community. If they could only replicate what they are doing in thousands of under-served communities in the nation we might make a dent in the homeless dog/shelter population. While there are lots of people in the DC metropolitan area who are benefiting from the help they are providing in learning to live with our dogs (and they with us) there are so many other places in the country where events like these are sorely needed. I am going to contact Bark Magazine or Dogtime or one of the online or in print dog magazines and get them to write a story about what this organization is doing. If more people knew about this organization I bet that they'd get a lot of interested people trying to re-create what they have done in the DC area. I have been really impressed at how many people show up for these free events. I am a big fan of this organization and I think many more like it are needed around the country.
