Review for Special Operations Warrior Foundation, Tampa, FL, USA
Having worked with this charity for three-plus years now, I can't think of a better cause to support. The fact that the staff is small and the overhead is low makes interacting with the SOWF a very personal experience. You literally get to know them. But first and foremost, the Warrior Foundation does what it says it's going to do, and isn't afraid to make exceptions to its policy when needed, such as in October 2013, when it provided $20,000 grants to the families of the four special ops troops killed in Afghanistan who did not immediately receive the customary $100,000 in death benefits due to them because of the government shutdown. The money provided to the families by the SOWF offset their travel and burial costs. These funds were the first the families received. God bless our special operations forces troops, their families, and the Special Operations Warrior Foundation.

Review for Ovarian Cancer Research Fund, Inc., New York, NY, USA
After my mother died of a rare and deadly form of ovarian cancer in September 2010, I searched the Internet for charities that support ovarian cancer research. That's how I learned about OCRF. I work at a small nonprofit in Florida that has earned Charity Navigator's four-star rating for the past seven years. The OCRF also has the CN four-star rating, so I know that most of the funds donated to the OCRF go toward programs and research. Right after my mother's death, I was able to speak briefly with the CEO (who attended the University of South Florida) and the chief research officer, about my mom and the work that the OCRF was doing. I feel my donations matter.
