Review for CSIX Connect, Saratoga, CA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

CSIX is known as a networking group for people looking for new jobs or careers. It does a terrific job of that, but it is also much more. It's a place to meet other people and learn about their interests, a place to learn about what works and what doesn't in finding employment in Silicon Valley, a place to hear an excellent speaker each week on a variety of topics. CSIX also puts on events, such the three-part series of workshops where industry recruiters help job-seekers improve their resumes and gain authentic interview experience. CSIX also sponsors special interest groups for people to home in on specific industries, for example the EcoGreen Group which helps people explore careers in renewable energy and green tech.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

I would introduce everyone in Silicon Valley who is, or ever will be looking for new work, to CSIX.

Review for Sunwork Renewable Energy Projects, Milpitas, CA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

Under the supervision of a licensed contractor, SunWork trains volunteers to perform most of the solar installation labor. This brings solar power to low-energy-use homes, where other installers don't want to or can't compete, and brings hands-on training to people wanting to work in solar, or who want to understand solar power better. This is a win/win/win: Customers are happy, volunteers are educated, and more solar power is generated where it otherwise wouldn't be.
