My son started sailing with HRCS 3 years ago when he started grade 9. What an amazing opportunity for a nyc kid to learn to sail, twice a week, out on the hudsen river. He has grown tremendously with this program, learning leadership skills, math and physics as it relates to sailing. During his 1st year in the program the kids designed and built a one man boat. The staff are incredible role models!! They are well educated, young and make the program fun. My son used to show up in snowstorms for his 2, 3 hour sessions a week. I can't say enough about this wonderful organization. There are not many free after school options in New York City, and this one reaches kids from all walks of life! I am hoping that my son will graduate from HRCH next year with a captains license, and he is talking about studying marine architecture in college.
