Review for Spirit Acres Farm Equine Rescue and Sanctuary, Montgomery, TX, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I have known Kat Matrician and Spirit Acres for about 15 years. She helped me in a time of need when I had two horses and had to move back to the city from our 8 acre tract in Tomball. Kat offered to take the horses in her program and I found her to be the most caring compassionate person in the world in caring for her babies, the horses. Even when she is overrun by horses in need, many abandoned, she keeps her head above water in doing whatever it takes to give the horses the best possible care, in sickness and in health. Kat and her helpers severally need financial help. Horse feed and veterinarian care do not come cheap although some maybe either reduced in cost or contributed. She has numerous emergencies and is in constant need of financial and personal help. All the local authorities that find an abandoned or injured horses bring them to Kat and Spirit Acres in Montgomery, Texas. Although I can not give help in body and soul, I am a monthly contributor to this well deserving cause. Please consider doing the same, every little bit helps.

I have known Kat Matrician and Spirit Acres Farm for about 10 years. We had a couple of horses and were moving back to the city and had no way to take care of the horses. Immediately I realize the compassion Kat had for each and every horse she took in and sheltered. It didn't matter if it was my situation where she might be looking for a home for the horses and sheltering them in the meantime or caring for one that the local authorities might have found on abandoned land or even in a ditch somewhere. Kat and her operation need financial help to feed and care for the horses she takes in. She does all she can do providing TLC for the horses but needs considerable financial help to provide that care. Your help would be appreciated.

I was contributing to Sprit Acres until for some unknown reason it was dropped from listing on greatnonprofits? I have visited the farm, a rescue facility for horses abandoned or for some other reason find their way to this sanctuary with all kinds of maladies and are taken care of by Kat Matrician and her helpers. She does a noteworthy job of caring for these animals until they can be adopted by someone. This is a wonderful labor of love for these animals. No one in the horse community or horse lovers could find a better way to help with this endeavor than to contribute to these needs. The labor of love is their but they need finances to feed and care for the horses.

i have been involved with Spirit Acres for 8 years. I contacted them about their services when i had to move back into town with an alzheimers wife and needed to do something with 2 horses we had. They were very helpful and i have grown to know Kat Matrician and her work since that time. She takes in horses from government agencies that find horses on the side of the road, in abandoned acreage and many other sources like mine, any horse that needs help. All need food and quite often medical attention. She turns away none! Her work is one of endless love for the horses and she needs considerable help, physical and of course financial. I am a constant contributor and wish i could do much more. I highly recommend this organization and Kat for any help that you might be able to give.

I had a need for a place to take a horse when i was moving and needed out of the horse business a few years ago. My daughter found Spirit Acres's website and i personally talked to Ms. Matrician and she offered to take my horse in and attempt to have the horse adopted. As it turned out, the horse got very sick before the transfer and died at the vet clinic before the horse was moved. I checked Ms. Matricians facility at the time and became a contributor to the excellent work she was doing. I have since visited the farm on a couple of occasions and have grown to appreciate all the hard work and passion for what she does in caring for these horses. Many times it becomes very difficult to find the resources to fund this work and as i said, i continue to be a contributor to this very worthy charity. My contributions are a very minor part in the success of this project. Without Ms. Matricians and other volunteers hard work and ongoing thankless effort, this worthwhile project could not exist and many horses would not continue to live.
I highly recommend this charity and suggest any and all horse lovers, or not, to help with this project to care for these abandoned horses.

Spirit Acres was there for me when i moved and no longer was able to keep or care for a couple of my horses. I have recently visited Spirit Acres and once again found the facility and individuals involved, especially Kat Matrician, to be involved in a real labor of love that few people would be able to provide for these animals on a 24/7 basis. I will continue to support this humane effort by this group to provide shelter, care and moral support for these previously abandoned animals. They are an exceptional organization.
