Review for Avodah, New York, NY, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I participated as a Corp member in Avodah 2007-2008. It was an amazing opportunity to meet other justice minded young jewish adults wanted to give a year of our life to service and working with the underserved community. Now as an Alumni, I am part of a rich network of support who are available whenever I reach out to them.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

my year as an avodah member and participating in personal and jewish learning programming

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

make sure it keeps growing and having the opportunity available for more young jewish adults to work in more communities

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

meeting like minded individuals and living and learning from them. have them as a support when work and life got tough

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

helpful, supportive, welcoming, fun, full of experience

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

grow to reach more underserved communities and also work with more young jewish adults who are struggling with with judaism means to them and how they see their role in their community.

Ways to make it better...

our house had more communal dinners

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

funding to support the work it is doing

One thing I'd also say is that...

i hope avodah wins this award, because they deserve the recognition for community support for the incredible work they're doing

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?

About every six months

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?

Role:  Former Volunteer & I provided access to legal services to the low income immigrant community. Now, i provide a support to the new members as an alum of the organization.
